JOHANNES OLDERT
Johan Oldert was born in 1912 in Rotterdam in the Netherlands but resided in South Africa from 1935.
Johans studies whilst staying in Rotterdam includes a year at the Royal Academy in Rotterdam under Koos den Hartog. He also studied in London under Harold Brownword at Regent Streets Polytechnic.
After moving to South Africa Johan attends the Natal Technical College under Merlyn Evans and Nils Anderson
He painted in mostly in oils but did a number of portrait busts in bronze, including King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in 1947 and, Dr Verwoerd in 1960.
Johan painted landscapes, still life, figures and abstract pictures. He held numerous solo exhibitions in South Africa and Rhodesia and Europe, making an extensive tour to Europe in 1954.
Johan passed away in 1984
